A Dream Realised, A Journey Begun
Dear Members, Families, and Well-Wishers of IDEB Singapore Chapter,
It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that we welcome you to the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh — Singapore Chapter. What you see today is the fruit of a dream shared by many, nurtured over years of patience, perseverance, and unwavering belief in the power of unity.
The idea of bringing Bangladeshi diploma engineers in Singapore onto one common platform was born as far back as 2010. For years, we gathered informally — at workplaces, at community events, at each other's homes — knowing that something stronger bound us together than the jobs we happened to share. We believed that diploma engineers, who form the backbone of so many industries in Singapore, deserved a professional home of their own: a place to be recognised, to grow, and to support one another.
The road here was not easy. We faced six setbacks along the way, and it took nearly two and a half years of sustained effort to turn this vision into a registered reality. On 8 February 2026, the IDEB Singapore Chapter was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies, Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore. That date marks not an end, but a beginning.
Our purpose is not simply to create another organisation. We aim to build a united, strong, and meaningful professional platform — one that creates real opportunities for networking, skills development, upskilling, career guidance, and professional growth. We want to build a bridge between Bangladesh and Singapore, opening doors for collaboration, knowledge sharing, education, and mutual development between the polytechnics and technical institutions of both nations.
We also recognise our responsibility to the wider community. We want to work alongside the relevant Singapore authorities, the Ministry of Manpower, and the Bangladesh High Commission to advocate for fair employment opportunities, proper recognition, workplace safety, and the professional development of diploma engineers — especially those in the construction, shipyard, and mechanical sectors who work so closely alongside our members.
To turn this vision into reality, we are committed to practical, ongoing initiatives:
- Seminars and professional workshops on emerging technologies and industry trends
- Skills development and training programmes tailored to members' career needs
- Industry networking opportunities with engineering companies and sector leaders
- Mentorship and career guidance for young and aspiring professionals
- Higher education and professional development support for members pursuing further qualifications
- Knowledge-sharing and collaboration between polytechnics and institutions in Bangladesh and Singapore
- Community welfare and support initiatives for fellow workers in technical sectors
We believe that the true strength of IDEB Singapore Chapter lies not in any single individual, but in the unity, active participation, and collective spirit of every member and their family. This chapter belongs to all of us.
We invite each of you to join us in this journey — to contribute your skills, share your knowledge, support your fellow members, and help build an organisation that we can all be proud of. Together, we can create a platform that not only advances our professional lives but also strengthens our community and honours the values we carry from home.
Let us rise together — as engineers, as professionals, and as one family.
— The Founding Committee, IDEB Singapore Chapter
